Below you can see the volunteer notes from our last sale so you can get an idea of the kinds of jobs that might be available for the Spring/Suummer sale. Our Volunteers are what make our JBF sale work. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteering for JBF Fort Worth. Why should I volunteer my time for JBF?Volunteers shop EARLY. Our volunteers shop on Wednesday night, September 9th - before we open to the public and even before our Consignors shop on Thursday, September 10th. The more you volunteer, the earlier you shop. We have 4 hour, 8 hour, 12 hour, and 16 hour workers. Also, you may do a barter job (something other than regular shift work) to get a Volunteer Presale Pass. Just consider the advantage you have when you shop early. As we are planning for 900 consignors at our next sale, just think of how great it would be to get in the door before they come in to shop! Working a few hours or doing a barter job can make a huge difference! Why don't you just hire workers to do these jobs?If we had to hire workers, we couldn't pay you as much on your sold items as we do. That's why the local consignment and resale stores cannot give you as much for your items as we can give you. Without volunteers, Just Between Friends cannot exist. I work and have 3 kids and a husband to take care of, how can I volunteer?Most of our volunteers are in the same boat you are in. That's why we have so many barter jobs available as well as night and weekend shift work that will hopefully accommodate your schedule. Barter jobs are usually 5-6 hours of work. We cannot allow your children to accompany you during your work shift, so if you cannot find a babysitter, check out the large number of barter jobs available, or you can send your husband to work a shift. If I think I want to work a shift, how do I look at what is available and then sign up?We have an online Volunteer Scheduling System ready to help you with this. All volunteer shift scheduling is done through our online signup system. So just click HERE and it will take you to the online signup page. If you've already done your online signup for the Fall sale, select Option 1 and enter your name and street number into the form, hit enter, then when the next page comes up, click on the blue box below your name and that will take you to the Volunteer Scheduler. If you have not yet done your online signup yet, just follow the link above and choose Option 1 or 2. Do your online signup and select the Volunteer button near the bottom of the online signup page. After you hit "submit", you will click on the blue box on the next page that comes up. This will take you to the Scheduler. You can see all the available shifts and build your own schedule. Because our Volunteer Scheduler is still being developed, we will still take emails and phone calls for the barter jobs. Barter jobs are listed below. Just contact Pam at pam@jbfsale.com or at 817-875-3335 to sign up or ask questions about barter jobs. Please be sure to leave a daytime and evening phone number if you have to leave a message. All phone calls and emails will be returned in the order they were received. Calls or emails to Joanie about volunteering will cause a delayed response so please contact Pam. How do I know what Presale my shifts or barter job qualify me for?For shift work, the Scheduler has a "My Schedule" box on the right side of the page that shows you what Presale Pass you have qualified for, and how many more hours you have to work to qualify for the next level Presale Pass. For barter work, just review the categories listed below and it will tell you when you get to shop for the barter job you wish to do. Please keep in mind that if you combine shift work with a barter job, the Presale Pass listed on the Volunteer Scheduler will not reflect the credit you will get for your bartering task. However, if you want to shop the 16 Hour or 12 Hour Presale, you cannot combine shift work and barter jobs. Full/Taken Slots are marked in RED! All slots are filled on a first come, first served basis. Some shifts overlap but you need to work all the hours to qualify for shifts. There may be a shift that is from 7am-11am and another shift that is from 9am-1pm. Working those 2 shifts do not qualify you for an 8 hour pass. You must work the full 8 hours to qualify. If you have questions about extending your hours to qualify please call Pam after you have selected your shifts - 817-875-3335. How to get a Presale Pass to the 16 hour Volunteer Presale on Wednesday night, September 9th, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. Volunteer four (4) of our volunteer shifts. This 16 hour Volunteer Presale Pass can only be earned by doing shift work and one of the shifts must be a Breakdown Shift on Tuesday, September 15th, or Wednesday, September 16th. Additionally, working 4 shifts automatically gets you one Presale Pass to the 1/2 Price Presale on Monday, September 14th, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. Details are listed above on how to get to the Volunteer Scheduler to schedule your shift work. Breakdown Shifts begin Tuesday, September 15th, at 6 p.m. and end at Midnight that night, and begin again on Wednesday, September, 16th at 7 a.m. and end at Midnight. Check the Volunteer Scheduler for specific shift times. How to get presale pass to the 12 hour Volunteer Presale on Wednesday night, September 9th, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.: Volunteer three (3) of our volunteer shifts. This 12 hour Volunteer Presale Pass can only be earned by doing shift work and one of the shifts must be a Set-Up Shift on Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 or a Breakdown Shift on Tuesday, September 15th or Wednesday, September 16th. Additionally, working 3 shifts automatically gets you one Presale Pass to the 1/2 Price Presale on Monday, September 14th at 8 p.m. Details are listed above on how to get to the Volunteer Scheduler to schedule your shift work. Check the Volunteer Scheduler for specifics on which shifts are Set-Up shifts, Breakdown shifts, and for specific shift times. Sales Experience Preferred: If you have sales experience and can help us solicit businesses to be part of our Smart Packs (formerly called Coupon Packs) then you earn 1 Presale Pass. Sales experience is a plus, but it is not required if you have lots of energy and good contacts. Help us stuff our Smart Packs full of great flyers for our JBF families by contacting local businesses. If you get 4 companies to participate, you get a 4 hour Presale Pass. If you get 8 companies to participate, you get an 8 hour Presale Pass. If you get 10 companies to participate, you get a 12 hour Presale Pass. Companies provide 500 pieces of their printed information and $50 (checks made out to JBF) to be included in the Smart Packs. You will pick up the flyers and the money from the business and deliver them back to Joanie's home. To be included in the Smart Packs, all items must be returned to Joanie by August 29, 2009. If you are interested in doing this, please contact us for a letter that you can show to businesses to prove you are soliciting on our behalf. How to get a Presale Pass to the 8 hour Volunteer Presale on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Volunteer two (2) of our volunteer shifts. This 8 hour Volunteer Presale Pass can be combined with non-shift/barter volunteer opportunities. Details are listed above on how to get to the Volunteer Scheduler to schedule your shift work. Signs: If you have 6 signs ($7.00 each) professionally printed for us for free, you earn one Presale Pass. You may mail us a check for $42 and we will have the printing done. Postage Provider: We do a lot of mailing at JBF and if you would like an easy way to earn a Presale Pass, please provide us with one 100-stamp roll of first-class (.44 cent) stamps. These would need to be delivered to Joanie's home in southwest Fort Worth by September 5th. Professional Photographer Needed: Do you have a husband or family member who is a professional photographer that can take pictures during our sale while you shop the Presale? The time needed is on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We would have a list of shots that we would want taken along with others that you thought seemed appropriate. To get this Pass, we would need for you to leave the pictures with us on a CD (or you can bring the appropriate cables to download them to our computer) before you left on the day you take your pictures. Task Taken How to get a Presale Pass to the 4 Hour Volunteer Presale on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009, at 7:30 p.m.: Volunteer one (1) of our volunteer shifts. Details are listed above on how to get to the Volunteer Scheduler to schedule your shift work.?? Displaying JBF Posters: If you have a car and some time, you can earn one Presale Pass by getting area businesses to display 20 of our sale posters. The posters need to be picked up from Joanie's home in southwest Fort Worth and a list of places that you were able to put a poster would need to be returned to Joanie by August 12th. We need five volunteers to help with this task - Burleson/Crowley area Area Taken, southwest Fort Worth/Benbrook/TCU area Area Taken, Saginaw area Area Taken, Granbury area Area Taken , and Ridglea/Will Rogers area Area Taken. This volunteer job would need to be accomplished between August 1st and 8th. Be a Secret Shopper for Us: If you have security/loss prevention experience and would like to help us with security by being a Secret Shopper who walks our sales floor keeping an eye out for problems, working with us and our Fort Worth Police Officers who are on duty at our sale, you can earn one Presale Pass. We have several shifts available for this very important volunteer job. Delivery of Free Admission Passes: If you are available to deliver passes on weekdays to area daycares, dance studios, mother's day out programs, and churches, this could be for you. Deliver 500 passes to at least 10 different locations. We need volunteers for Burleson/Crowley area Area Taken, southwest Fort Worth/Benbrook/TCU area Area Taken, Saginaw area Area Taken , Granbury area Area Taken, and for Ridglea/Will Rogers area Area Taken. You would pick up passes/postcards at Joanie's home in southwest Fort Worth by August 21st and return your list and business cards of where you delivered passes either to Joanie's home by September 5th or to us at Will Rogers on Drop Off days. Yard Sign Delivery: If you have a car and some time, you can deliver JBF yard signs to designated addresses. We need 4 volunteers for this task that needs to be completed between August 9th and 16th. You will need to pick up the signs and addresses from Joanie's home in southwest Fort Worth. We will try to assign you in one part of Fort Worth but we don't know who will sign up to have signs in their yard so it could require driving in various parts of town. Tasks Taken Meals/Snacks/Water: If you are a good cook or are willing to get us great take-out (including drinks, please) at your cost, you earn one Presale Pass. We will need complete set-up to eat – plates, cups, plastic wear, and napkins. We prefer meals that are easy to eat on-the-run – basically nothing that requires a knife to eat. No pizza, please (except on the one night we've specifically requested that). If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity (you are welcome to take more than one of these shifts for an earlier Presale Pass), please call or email Pam and let us know what your meal plan is or we can give you a suggestion. Lunch deliveries by 11:30 a.m., please and dinner deliveries by 5:30 p.m., please. We ask that if you sign up to bring water, please bring at least 12 ounce bottles that come 24/case. Pam will contact you with suggestions of snacks and further instructions. Task Taken Smart Packs: If you can help us by putting flyers in a Smart Pack for distribution to our shoppers, you earn one Presale Pass. This is a job for 2 people, but you do not have to volunteer together. You will need to pick up all materials and the bags from Joanie’s home in southwest Fort Worth and deliver them to Joanie (they MUST be specifically given to her) at Will Rogers on September 8th. This job needs to be done between September 2nd and September 8th. This is another great at-home task. Task Taken Craig's List: Are you a Craig's list expert. We are looking for two volunteers who can help us advertise on Craig's list. This task would involve a daily review of postings on Craig's List and daily responses to the postings that meet our requirements. This would be done in two shifts. The first shift would cover between August 1st and August 20th and the second shift would cover August 21st and September 8th. If you can do one of these shifts, you earn one Presale Pass. This volunteer job can only be done be a previous consignor. Task Taken Click HERE to be taken to our online signup page. If you have already signed up online for the Fall sale, select Option 1 and highlight "I need to sign up to volunteer" then enter your name and street number and hit enter. On the page that comes up, click on the blue box below your name and you will be taken to the Volunteer Scheduler where you can see all the shift work available. If you have not yet done your online signup for Fall and wish to volunteer, follow the link above and select the appropriate item. Fill out the form, selecting Volunteer near the bottom of the online signup form and then clicking on submit. On the page that comes up after that, click on the blue box below your name to be taken to the Volunteer Scheduler. Shift work includes things like: scanning assistants at registers, inspecting at Drop-Off, helping consignors at Pick-Up, working the Hold Area, straightening/organizing items on the selling floor, working security, working set-up, breakdown, or sorting of unsold items, or other jobs that we require to keep the sale going. Once you are at the Volunteer Scheduler page, you can see all shifts that are available and you can pick your shift there. Please Note: If you combine shift work (done on the Volunteer Scheduler) with barter work (sign up through Pam), the Presale Pass noted on the Volunteer Scheduler will not be correct, since it does not include your barter task. You WILL receive the proper Presale Pass. If you want to shop the 16 hour or 12 hour Presale, you cannot combine shift work with barter jobs. We couldn't do JBF without our faithful volunteers.
